Connecting business...
Google and other search engines are great for generic items around the world. But, using them, it's hard to find services and products that may be just around the corner. Local search carries many nuances - neighborhoods and their character, local style and sensibility. Perhaps local groups are most able to provide accurate search results for local markets.
B2Catalyst is designing several programs to, in effect, create a "virtual neighborhood" of businesses which share a common characteristic - by industry group, by neighborhood, and others.
By highlighting the similarities, it becomes easier for businesses to communicate with themselves, with vendors and customers. Our goal is a "contemporary business directory" - with easy to find information, rich data, and a gathering place for companies, vendors and customers to interact.
A web-based Content Management System, being adopted by B2Catalyst, will allow businesses to create and update their information directly.
Preliminary discussions have begun with several neighborhood associations - large and small. We expect that at least several of these projects will "go-live" by the end of Q1 2011. Feel free to bookmark this page to see the progress as it develops.
Other, B2Catalyst internally developed applications will also be deployed by year end.
